Pharmacy Opens in Fairport

The new Fairport Pharmacy celebrated its Grand Opening on February 4, 2008. The pharmacy is a locally owned, independent drug store employing local staff. Fairport Mayor Frederick “Fritz” May joined veteran pharmacists Chet Thapa and Paula Lewyckyj to formally open Fairport Pharmacy, located at 114 North Main Street.

On Tuesday, January 8, 2008, Frank Dean, Director of the Erie Canal National Heritage Corridor presented a $13,000 grant “check” to Mayor Fritz May. The grant will be used to fund the creation, fabrication, and installation of a series of historic interpretive signs throughout the village of Fairport’s historic Canal front and Main Street business district.

McClure Tour a Big Hit in Fairport

More than a thousand flock to see the Lois McClure, an 80 foot-long 1800's canal schooner replica, which docked in Fairport on August 9th for tours.

Fairport Rotary Interact Club Cleans Up

The Fairport Village Partnership, local Adopt-A-Trail coordinating agency for the Erie Canal from the Monroe-Wayne County Line to the Town of Pittsford, recently recognized the efforts of Fairport Rotary Interact Club by presenting members with New York State Canals Volunteer patches.

Fairport is Now a Tree City USA

The Village's longtime goal was reached just in time for the Arbor Day celebrations on April 30.  The specific requirements have been dealt with through a mandatory tree board, which had to be allocated resources and came up with a tree plan.
